Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto, Coimbra, PT
2023
 Nine artists were selected to showcase their vision of what makes a home at Casa Das Artes in Coimbra, Portugal. Places of intimacy, protection, and security, but also of imagination and transcendence.

In Portuguese, “casa” refers to both "house" and “home". In English, the distinction is clear: "home" is rooted in memories and emotions, "house" is just a building. My artworks play with this distinction, illustrating scenes and characters overlaid in inanimate houses. A single chair may have been used by hundreds of people in their life, containing thousands of memories and experiences.

The Wurundjeri People of the Kulin nation are the Traditional Owners of the land on which I work. I pay my respects to elders past, present and future. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
